Private Coaching

As with all or of our sports we are more than happy to teach you on a private lesson basis, at any level, at a time when it is convenient for you. This proves to be a time efficient, convenient and effective way to learn and you can still work at your own pace through the BCU syllabus.

£42 for a private lesson for one hour, plus 1 hour practice.

£160 block of 4 x 2 hour sessions as above.

BCU 1 Star

During these lessons you will learn the basics of boat control, in both kayak and Canadian Canoe. Skills include forward and reverse paddling, sweep strokes to turn the kayak in a controlled manner, draw strokes to go sideways, stern rudders to go straighter with less effort, support strokes to help you stay upright and, of course, the capsize drill. This is usually achieved in four 1 hour lessons, with four 1 hour practices.

BCU 2 Star

Take your skills to the next step, make it all look smooth using edge control and trim and learn how to rescue your fellow paddlers in deep water in both Canadian Canoe and Kayak. This is where you can really move forward and progress your skills. This is usually achieved in four 1 hour lessons, with four 1 hour practices.

SUPing

SUPing (stand-up paddle boarding) is an awesome way to get out on the water when there is no wind or waves. Quick and easy to pick up, and practicing balancing skills useful in windsurfing and surfing, SUPing is the ideal sport to do on a sunny afternoon.

Please Note – Closed-cockpit kayaks and Canadian canoes require atleast BCU 1 star qualifications to be rented. No qualifications are required to rent SUPs or open-top kayaks
